How to Apply

If you are interested in attending a UWC school or college, you should first find out as much information about the organisation and our educational programmes as you can here on our website, or through your national committee’s website.

Having decided that UWC is for you, you should look at the application process for your country and submit an application directly to the national committee. Please find their contact information on our website here.

The primary way to apply to UWC schools and colleges is through the UWC national committee in your country. Only where there is no national committee, you may be able to apply directly to a UWC (see below).

Irrespective of the route of entry, you can only make one application to UWC per year. In some cases, you may be able to make a second application the following year, if you meet the age requirements.

National Committees:

National committees operate in over 155 countries, and if there is a national committee in your country then you must apply through them to enter the IB Diploma Programme at UWC.

Each national committee has a different application process, and different application deadlines, so ensure that you carefully read all of the information available. You can find out more by reaching out to your national committee.

Direct application:

You may not be able to apply via a national committee in the following circumstances:

  • There is no UWC national committee in your country of residence
  • There is no UWC national committee in your country of citizenship
  • You do not meet the eligibility requirements to apply through the national committee where you are a resident
  • You do not meet the eligibility requirements to apply through the national committee where you are a national

In these cases, you may be able to apply directly to one of the seventeen UWC schools and colleges, though they do not currently all accept direct applications.

Please write to UWC International on info@uwcio.uwc.org for more information and to receive an application pack. Please note that fees vary at each school or college and that there are usually no scholarships available if you apply directly.

Admission to Lower Years:

If your enquiry is regarding schooling from the ages of 3-16, please contact the schools directly. Currently, UWC Maastricht, UWCSEA, UWC Thailand and Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa offer programmes for younger students.
